  • My name is Artemis. It has been about five years since I started playing the violin with my dear and devoted teacher, Mrs. Mahshad Homaei.

When I wanted to step into the world of violin playing, my biggest worry and sorrow was that I might not be able to handle the practices as well as they deserve, or that I might not be able to progress properly. But over these years, I noticed a great change in my violin playing — and that was the biggest change for me: that each time I picked up the violin and played, I felt progress in my fingers and hands on the violin. And that happened only because I listened to and acted upon the words of my dear teacher.

And my advice for someone who is about to step into the world of music and a path with somewhat difficult — yet sweet — obstacles in violin playing is this: the most important thing is that they must give it their all, follow the teacher's words in the best possible way, and never hold back, until they reach that sweet and delightful taste of the instrument of hearts — the violin.

  • After a forty year gap, I started the violin again about a year ago. I was very fortunate to have Mrs. Mahshad Homaei as my music instructor who I am happy to say is still my music teacher. Her teaching style is both rigorous and relaxed. Naturally, I make lots of mistakes and manage to produce quite a bit of unintentional dissonance! But with her guidance, I am now much better equipped to recognize when I am playing out of tune and even - sometimes- succeed at correcting myself.

I very much look forward to continuing my lessons with Mrs. Homaei for the foreseeable future. I would recommend her to anyone regardless of their age who wish to learn the violin.

  • I truly owe this journey and this progress to your specialized and scientific teaching.

Years ago, I took classes with well-known teachers, but you won't believe it — they wouldn't even point out my wrong notes to me. Their ultimate teaching technique was to play the instrument and tell the student, "You play it just like me."

In your class, I became familiar with the tuner and the metronome. I learned to tune my own instrument. You taught me to be meticulous about the pitch of the notes and to tune each note one by one with the tuner until my ear was trained. You also taught me rhythm reading, tempo, and correct timing.

Without exaggeration, besides being a very skilled player yourself, you are also a very skilled teacher — academic and knowledgeable, technically strong, and patient and capable. This is something many teachers do not have.

Although I still have a long way to go 😅, I owe this progress to you 💗

I truly thank you for everything.

  • Since I began my violin learning journey with you, the greatest change I have noticed is understanding the absolute importance of details. I have experienced learning the foundational and basic points in a very precise and detailed way; it is this strong and principled foundation that allows me to say with confidence that in the future, I will be able to learn more advanced stages much more easily, quickly, and deeply. In addition, the experience of following and focusing on all the essential aspects of playing — from solfège and note reading to correct fingering and bowing — has completely reassured me that the teaching path is fully principled, scientific, and standard.

If I were to give advice to someone who is about to start the violin, I would say: enter the path with patience and enthusiasm, and know that you are going to learn this instrument in a completely principled and scientific way. Paying attention to the foundations, theory, and details of bowing at the beginning may be time-consuming, but these fundamental exercises will be the main key to your mastery and comfort in playing complex pieces in the future.

  • I have been attending music school in Norway the country where I live for some years. Although I had been learning quite complex pieces, I often felt that my finger positioning was not quite correct, and as a result, the sound I produced on the violin was not as it should be and sometimes I was not following the correct rhythm. Since last year I started my online courses with Mrs Mahshad. She has helped me significantly to correct my finger positioning and playing on correct rhythm in addition to teaching theory of music in parallel. We play different famous classic songs in our sessions. I now feel much more confident in my playing. I can hear and feel the differences. This has made playing the violin much more enjoyable for me.

I highly recommend Mrs. Mahshad as a supportive and dedicated teacher. She pays close attention to her students’ progress, follows up consistently, and genuinely cares about helping them improve

  • When I started the violin with you, I realized that the violin has its own rules and principles, and that to progress in it, one must practice a great deal and have a lot of effort and perseverance.

If I were to give advice to someone who intends to start the violin, I would say: if they want to take violin classes, they should move forward with great enthusiasm from the very beginning, and know that the violin may seem easy at first, but later they will realize it is not that easy — and if they want to succeed, they must take the violin seriously and, for example, dedicate time to it just like school subjects. Before starting violin classes, my biggest fear was that I wouldn't succeed and that the violin would be very difficult, but now I am succeeding at it.

  • I started learning the violin as an adult and honestly thought I had left it far too late. I was worried that learning a new instrument at my age would be too difficult, but Mahshad’s patient and supportive teaching made the journey much easier and more enjoyable.

The online lessons fit perfectly around my work and daily schedule. A year on, I’m able to play some of the songs I love, and I’m genuinely surprised by how much I’ve improved. I’ve also become much more confident and motivated to keep learning. I’m so glad I finally decided to start!

  • The first few months were all about learning the basics, and I’m really glad they were. Mahshad helped me build a strong foundation instead of rushing into difficult pieces. Little by little, I became more comfortable with my bowing, intonation, and rhythm.

Now I can play a melody all the way through and make it sound like music rather than just an exercise. It feels great to hear the difference and know that all those small steps really made a difference.

  • Ever since I started learning violin with Mahshad, I feel like I’ve improved so much and become much more confident. Before starting lessons, I thought learning violin would be super hard and that I’d never be good at it! But I’ve learned that the key is not to rush and, most importantly, to have fun while learning.

  • Mrs. Mahshad explains why a technique works, not just how to do it. That’s what finally made scales and shifting make sense to me. With her guidance, I also gained the confidence to perform as a soloist.
